Hi, I'm Rieko

Hi there, I’m Rieko and I have been a devoted Yogi for over 15 years now.  Born in Japan, raised in California and now living in Germany, I try to connect Eastern philosophy and Western lifestyle in my teaching.  I first met yoga when I was 20, in Redondo Beach California, the place where I grew up.  A few years back I received my Yoga Teacher Certificate from  Yogi Sivadas who founded Kailash Tribal School of Yoga and Holistic Health.

My Specialty

Hatha yoga is the main aspect of my yoga practice.  We focus on being able to hold the poses (asanas) with calmness and poise by bringing awareness to the breath. 

Hatha yoga is a branch of yoga and it is consisting of the 3rd and the 4th steps from the 8 fold path of yoga, also known as the Ashtanga Yoga (or Classical Yoga).

We do a plenty of Sun Salutation to warm-up the body and at the same time, strengthening and aligning the entire body.  It can be meditative as we flow through these movements while you center your awareness within yourself. 

Yin Yoga is where we focus on holding the poses for a much longer period.  In this course, we look deeper into our poses and how we hold these poses without any struggle. 

It takes much more patience and calming in the mind in order to let yourself ‘sink into’ each pose. 

It is a great way to rediscover your body opening up.  You can learn to really surrender into your poses.

Moving seamlessly in our poses with our breathing allows us to find power in ourselves. It can help you build strength while we synchronize our breath to our flowing sequences. In this practice, you will focus on moving through all the different asanas smoothly in a meditative flow.  I’m always enjoying a nice mix of Vinyasa in my practice.
